CLASS SERIES, Spring 2008

New Tuesday Class Series
After doing a test run with Felipe and Rosa, we are very excited to announce that starting January 29 Robin Thomas will be coming to teach on Tuesdays.   He will be teaching two series, one for those who just graduated from the bootcamp (level 1) and the other for those who have at least one semester experience dancing (level 2).

When: Classes will be every Tuesday starting Jan 29 until March 18.
8-9pm Level 2
9-10pm Level 1
10-11pm Practica

Where:  Classes will be held on the second floor of Street Hall (located at the corner of High St. and Chapel St.)   Meet at 7:55 at the big doors directly across the street from Starbucks to be let in to the hall.

How much:  Sign up online for a huge discount.  For those who choose to simply drop in, the classes will be $10 student, $20 non-students.  Please bring cash and pay with exact change.  (All Tuesday classes are included for unlimited pass holders.)

Sunday Afternoon Classes
Class series begin February 10.  Subscribe to the e-mail list to receive up-to-date information on class dates and times.  For information about the Yale Tango Club's updated membership policy go here.  To sign up for a class series, go here.  For those not signed up for a class series, prices are $10 per class for students and $20 per class for all others.  Class times are usually 4:30-6pm for Level 2 and 6:30-8pm for Level 1.  Sunday classes are held at GPSCY.

Level 1: Post-Bootcamp (6 classes) -- $34 STUDENT/ $56 NON-STUDENT

This series is designed for those that have completed the bootcamp but don't have very much dancing experience.  These 8 classes will cover topics such as (but not limited to) the ocho cortado, right turn, basic musicality, valses, milongas, turn sequences, fundamental technique, and a couple of more challenging moves like the boleo, sacada, and pasada in both close and open embrace.  If you have just graduated from the bootcamp or have taken some more classes but want to solidify the foundation of your tango, this series is strongly encouraged.  It was our most popular series last semester and it's no wonder why.

Level 2: Adv. Beginner/Intermediate (6 classes) -- $34 STUDENT/ $56 NON-STUDENT

This series is designed for those that have completed the bootcamp as well as our Level 1 series from last semester, or the equivalent thereof.  Students signing up for these classes should be very comfortable with, and be willing to demonstrate in front of the class, the ocho cortado, the left and right turn, a sacada, a boleo, and should be able to differentiate between a tango, vals, and milonga.  These classes will be more intensive and will build upon the technique and material presented in the Level 1 equivalent from last semester.  Topics will include (but are not limited to) boleo sequences, intermediate musicality, ganchos, vals and milonga specific steps, volcadas, sacada sequences, and more complicated moves like colgadas and/or single axis turns.  Students who are unsure whether they fit into Level 1 or Level 2 are encouraged to sign up for the Unlimited Pass (see below) and attend both.

Level U: Unlimited Pass (>25 classes) - $75 STUDENT

This pass allows access to all classes offered by the Yale Tango Club until January.  This pass is significantly subsidized and is, unfortunately, only available to students (including graduate and post-docs).
